Travel can be expensive, particularly for those who don’t care to shop around. Here’s how checking Sam’s Club first can save you money.
When considering a trip, Sam’s Club may not be the first place you think to check for travel deals. Maybe it should be. Some deals allow you to save enough to pay for a nice meal or see an extra attraction. However, some Sam’s Club travel deals knock it out of the park, beating travel sites by a mile. Here’s a sample of three current Sam’s Club deals.
1. Kennedy Space Center: Merritt Island, Florida
If you’re planning a summer trip to Merritt Island, just north of Cape Canaveral, Sam’s Club can help you keep a few dollars in your checking account — just enough to buy a souvenir. Whether you’re traveling with a friend or taking the kids to visit NASA’s main launch site, there’s plenty to do once you arrive. In addition to exploring the space shuttle program and seeing a real moon rocket, ticket prices include a tour into restricted areas, launch headquarters, all visitor complex exhibits, shows, and both IMAX movies.

2. Six Flags Over Texas: Arlington, Texas
If touring Texas is on your bucket list, you have plenty of places to visit. There’s The Alamo in San Antonio, Guadalupe Mountains National Park, South Padre Island, and much more. But don’t overlook the original Six Flags theme park in Arlington. Using your Sam’s Club membership, you can enjoy a day of fun at a deeply discounted price. The only caveat is that you must visit on a Sunday through Friday.
If your kids are still craving fun after a day at the park, Arlington does not disappoint. You have your choice of several water parks, The University of Texas at Arlington’s Planetarium, and the K1 Speed race course. And there are tons of kid-friendly restaurants in the Arlington area.
And if you’re working hard to preserve your savings account balance, there are also plenty of free things to do. For example, catch a concert under the stars at the Levitt Pavilion Arlington, visit the art installments along the public Entertainment District Art Trail, or visit one of the two lovely parks located in the center of town.

3. The Peaks Resort and Spa: Telluride, Colorado
If you’re looking for both adventure and pampering, a place like The Peaks Resort and Spa in Telluride should do the trick. Whether you book a trip for summer or wintertime, you’ll be surrounded by things to do. For example, resort guests in summer can enjoy golf to their heart’s content, paddle boarding, hiking, biking, river rafting, fly fishing, or paragliding — to name a few of the many options. And if you happen to bring the kids along, the resort offers eco-adventures for them.
In the winter, there’s skiing, of course, but there’s so much more. You can go snowboarding, ice skating, ice climbing, dog sledding, horseback riding, or snowmobiling.
And then there’s the star of the attraction — a spa that will help you melt away stress by customizing a plan to your needs.
The Sam’s Club discount can be substantial, with guests saving at least $118 per night.
While Sam’s Club does not always offer the lowest price on travel, it pays to check before booking. When there is a discount to be found, the money saved can be significant, proving it is possible to travel on a budget.
